Grateful To My Collectors

Hello Friends,

It is a true blessing to have collectors who stay with you through the years as an artist. These are the people who have seen it all. They have watched my work evolve from the early days of traditional oil painting to the more graphic, stylized oil works that eventually expanded into ten layers across five panes of clear acrylic glass.

Now, as I move into a new era of exploration, the Blur paintings have begun to find their place within my body of work.

In the beginning, I found painting trees particularly challenging, and over time I feel I have come to understand—and perhaps even master—them. Along the way, I also learned how to deconstruct traditional painting methods, gradually moving toward greater abstraction and, eventually, toward minimalism.

Although I am still exploring and learning, this process has led me to what I now call my Blur series. I’ve been contemplating the effects of minimalist art and the motivations behind such reduction for years—how simplicity can still carry emotion, atmosphere, and meaning. This approach has captured my curiosity and inspires me to continue creating.

Working from this perspective has proven more challenging than I expected, yet I find a genuine joy in the freedom and expression it offers.

Kind regards,
Janell James

It always means so much when longtime supporters stop by the gallery. Thank you to my friend and collector Carol for visiting Bodhi Gallery and selecting several pieces for her collection. Your support over the years has been incredibly meaningful to me. So grateful! 🎨
