This series stems from all the years of layering that I have created within my work over the years from very traditional oil paintings to my contemporary landscapes where I paint on the front and back of five panes of clear acrylic glass creating 10 layers of depth. My love for nature and trees has now made its way into flowers. Creating these 3-dimensional wall pieces out of six to seven layers of colored acrylic glass has been a new direction for me, adding sculptural painting to my oeuvre. I love how this collection has come together with room to grow.
This series is called “Ain’t No Wallflower” and is a part of my Hanging Garden Collection. Each piece is individually painted on six to seven layers of colored acrylic glass. Prior to painting, the initial process begins on the computer where I draft shapes, design and figure out how all of the layers will come together. These works are considered mixed media sculptural paintings.
