“May The Four Winds Blow You Home Again”
The story behind the painting selected as the promotional image for the 45th Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale
A few weeks ago, I shared the exciting news that May the Four Winds Blow You Home Again had been selected as the promotional image for the 45th Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale in Cody, Wyoming.
This week, my contributor copies of Fine Art Connoisseur arrived.
I thought you might enjoy seeing the actual magazine spread. It's one thing to see a digital proof on a screen and another to hold the finished publication in your hands. I still catch myself turning to the fourth page every time I pick up the magazine.
There's something uniquely satisfying about opening a magazine and finding a painting you've created. Even after knowing it had been selected, seeing May the Four Winds Blow You Home Again reproduced in print made the experience feel real in an entirely different way.
It's one thing to receive the news.
It's another to finally hold it in your hands.
Looking Ahead
The 45th Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale takes place September 14–19, 2026, in Cody, Wyoming, where May the Four Winds Blow You Home Again will be offered alongside works by an extraordinary group of Western artists.
If you'll be attending the show, I hope you'll take a moment to see it in person. Photographs can capture the image, but they can't fully convey the depth, light, and changing perspective created by the layered acrylic.
Thank you for following this painting's journey—from its earliest days in the studio to the pages of Fine Art Connoisseur. Sharing these moments with you makes them all the more meaningful.
Sometimes a painting finds its way into the world in ways you never expected. I'm grateful this one has found its way to so many of you already, and I look forward to seeing where the four winds carry it next.
Warmly,
Janell James
